Captain Jena M. Roark

Captain Jena M. Roark is a native of Hoopeston, Illinois. CPT Roark is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University where she earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Humanities and Communication in 2004. She received her commission as a Signal Officer through the Reserve Officer Training Course (ROTC) Program. While attending college, she was an active member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority as the Philanthropy Chair.
Her assignments include: Executive Officer, HHC, 122nd Signal Battalion, Korea; LEN Platoon Leader, Charlie Company, 122nd Signal Battalion, Korea; Executive Officer, HHB, 18th Fires Brigade (Airborne), Ft. Bragg, NC; Brigade S6, 18th Fires Brigade (Airborne), Ft. Bragg, NC; and S6, 188th Brigade Support Battalion, Ft. Bragg, NC. CPT Roark assumed command of HHC, 50th Signal Battalion (Exp) on September 26, 2008. She prepared and trained her Soldiers for a successful deployment to Camp Victory, Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 09-10. She just completed the Signal Captain’s Career Course at Fort Gordon, Georgia.
CPT Roark’s military education includes 75B Personnel Administration Specialist and 63W Wheel Vehicle Repairer Advanced Individual Training, Reserve Officer Basic Course, and the Signal Officer Basic Course. Her awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal (with oak leaf cluster), the Army Achievement Medal (with oak leaf cluster), the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal (with Campaign Star), the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award).
